Abstract/Description:
Bioinformatics is a new field that seeks to apply the tools and techniques of computer science to the management and analysis of biological data. Efforts are under way in MITC-associated institutions to incorporate bioinformatics into the undergraduate curriculum. This workshop will bring together interdisciplinary teams of faculty, science librarians and instructional technologists from biology, computer science and chemistry who are interested in integrating bioinformatics into their curriculum and research. Hands-on lab sessions will be conducted by faculty who have already developed courses and modules that can be incorporated into the science curricula.
