Title: PlantingScience: Online community resources and mentoring for collaborative student inquiry in plant science
PlantingScience.org is an online learning community funded by NSF to help students grapple with how science is conducted by working in research groups with scientists.
• Challenge students to design plant investigations in germination, growth, photosynthesis and respiration
• Invite scientists to mentor student scientific curiosity and offer insights to scaffold students’ research, problem-solving, and science communication skills.
• Participate in a 2-week August 2008 Summer Institute on contemporary plant biology and inquiry strategies.
Title: Plant IT Careers, Cases, and Collaborations: Join us in Summer 2008!
Learn more about opportunities for high school students and teachers to solve contemporary plant-related biology problems and explore career connections featuring the technology and skills that support modern plant science! Recruitment is underway for Student Summer Camps and Teacher Summer Institutes. Funded by NSF, this Information Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) project is a collaborative effort between the Botanical Society of America, BioQUEST Curriculum Consortium, and Texas A&M University.
